Robert MAJA will be co-hosting an Art Benefit and silent auction with the Manny Mota International Foundation to support their programs aiding communities in the Dominican Republic. The Benefit will take place Saturday, December 15th from 4-8pm at the offices of Kinsell, Newcomb, and De Dios on 2776 Gateway Drive, Carlsbad, CA. 92008.
The purpose of this benefit is to bring the joint communities of San Diego and Los Angeles together to support one another in efforts to help create a more positive future for many teens and families abroad. Many leaders of Latin American organizations will be attending along with politicians, business entrepreneurs’, and entertainers from all over Southern California. We will be hosting live entertainment from musical genius and local San Diegan, Jonny Tarr. There will be incredible hand-painted ceramics available by local artist and professor, April Hernandez as well as a raffle with exciting prizes as well as Tequila tasting from Los Angeles based, Tequila 88. One of the highlights of the evening will be the silent auction decorated with an impressive assortment of sports memorabilia from many well-known professional teams.
The Manny Mota Foundation is dedicated to providing education, health, and recreational opportunities for the underprivileged and disadvantaged youth of the Dominican Republic. Using the expertise of Manny Mota, a former Dodger and native to the island, the organization has been successful in teaching youth to build healthy bodies and minds through positive role models and self-discipline as well as provide communities with the tools for improvement and self-reliance.
Robert MAJA is an Internationally recognized artist and muralist from the Dominican Republic who currently resides in Orange County, Ca. Robert attended Fine Art School in Santo Domingo and later went on to live and study in Madrid, Spain where he perfected his knowledge and ability. Robert has won several juried exhibitions both individual and collective in many parts of Europe and The United States. His work is part of several private collections and he works closely with Art Museums such as the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA). Robert has always had a passion for working with youth, as he was the official muralist with youth programs for the Dominican Presidency. Robert was recently selected among 30 California Artists to be commissioned for a mural in the Public Library of the City of San Luis Obispo, Ca. The mural is titled, “World Movement” and expresses the idea of forward motion and social progress within the framework of many communities worldwide. His passion for supporting community through the arts is evident in his ability to create captivating, colorful, and bold pieces of artwork.
