Perils of Processed Foods: Scripps Keynote Jan. 31
Consumers
can gain a revealing glimpse into the world of processed foods at a keynote
address Jan. 31 by Michael Moss, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative
reporter with the New York Times and author of the 2013 best-seller “Salt Sugar
Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us.”
The
keynote is part of an educational conference presented by Scripps Center for
Integrative Medicine – the 11th annual Natural Supplements: An
Evidence-Based Update. Moss’ address will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Hilton
San Diego Resort on Mission
Bay, located at 1775 E. Mission Bay Drive.
The event is open to the public, with a registration fee of $35. The address

In“Salt Sugar Fat,” Moss takes readers on a behind-the-scenes tour of the processed food industry and its link to the emerging obesity epidemic. As part
of his keynote, Moss will offer practical insights for health-conscious
consumers to keep in mind while grocery shopping, from product packaging to
nutrient listings to shelf placement.
The
keynote is a community event presented by Scripps Center for Integrative
Medicine and is co-sponsored by UC San Diego Center for Integrative Medicine,
San Diego Botanic Garden, California Dietetic Association, Warwick’s and Sharp
HealthCare.
