Bring Used Shoes to Ralph's in Carlsbad to Help Local Dying of Lung Disease

The shoe drive will help raise money to pay for medical bills and give affordable shoes to people in developing nations.

Kelly "Kels" Kirkland of Carlsbad is suffereing from severe chronic asthma, COPD, and Pulmonary Fibrosis.

The month of September is nationally recognized as Pulmonary Fibrosis (PF) Awareness Month, as well as Pulmonary Fibrosis Global Awareness Day on Sept 7th.

The weekend of Sept. 7-8 Kels and her supporters are holding a shoe drive at the Carlsbad Ralphs located at 7140 Avenida Encinas. Kels' birthday also happens to be Sept. 8 and this year she is wishing for a miracle.

Donated shoes will be purchased by the pound by Shoes with Heart. The money will help Kels pay her medical bills. All donated shoes (including anything that can be worn on feet including skates, cleats, etc.) must be donated in pairs. They can be tied or buckled together and/or placed in trash bags. Your shoes will be cleaned, repaired and recycled to developing nations in need as a low cost alternative to new shoes.
