Free AARP Tax Return Assistance for Seniors
Seniors can come get free tax assistance at the Carlsbad Senior Center every Tuesday and Thursday.
The free assistance is thanks to an AARP Tax-Aide program that provides the preparation of 2011 federal and California tax returns to low to middle income seniors, ages 50 and older.
Volunteers are fully trained and certified by the IRS to handle items most often found on seniors' returns, such as interest, dividends, capital gains, IRAs, pensions and annuities, Social Security, Railroad Retirement Board benefits and itemized deductions. Taxpayers with complex returns involving rental property, royalty or partnership income, depreciable assets, or significant foreign investments are advised to use the services of a paid tax professional.
