Couples Can Tie the Knot on Valentine’s Day at County Administration Center

The county clerk’s office will be busy Feb. 14 filling requests for marriage licenses.

Romantic restaurants aren’t the only places busy on Valentine’s Day. Every year the County Administration Center serves as the setting for couples that want to get married or renew their vows on Feb. 14.

“Valentine’s Day wedding ceremony reservations are filling up quickly,” said Ernie Dronenburg, assessor/recorder/clerk for San Diego County. “We are planning on added staff at our downtown location for Valentine’s Day to accommodate all those wanting to be married on this special day. Call right now so we can plan on helping you.”

While making a reservation is recommended, it is not required. The administration center overlooks San Diego Bay at 1600 Pacific Highway and will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For reservations call (619) 237-0502.

A non-confidential marriage license costs $70 and a confidential license costs $89. A ceremony presided over by county staff will cost an extra $88, and witnesses are available for $18. There is no waiting period or blood test necessary to get married.

Marriage licenses will also be available at other county offices: 200 S. Magnolia Ave. in El Cajon; 141 E. Carmel St. in San Marcos; and 590 Third Ave. in Chula Vista.

I'd say the recent events against which they were protesting are far more consequential than aRead More freeway traffic back-up. Just a guess.

How did they cause a backup, exactly? I'm asking because I saw them, and am wondering how theyRead More backed it up. If it's because people were slowing to read the signs, you can't really get mad at them for that.

I stopped using Internet Explorer years ago. Firefox is safer and the possibility of getting aRead More virus is much less. I have no issues with Firefox.

And if you use an IPAD early in the day as I do, the problem is that there is so much on each pageRead More that it is hard to scroll with your finger(s) because there is just so much clutter that you keep losing your story to an annoying ad.
