San Diego Chargers Season Outlook

The Chargers have made great moves this offseason in order to make them Super Bowl Contenders.

The San Diego Chargers have made some blockbuster moves during a frenzied free agency cut short by the lockout and non-stop labor negotiations.

After drafting big names like Corey Liuget, and hometown Wide Receiver Vincent Brown, A.J. Smith reeled in Linebackers Takeo Spikes and Travis LaBoy, along with Safety Bob Sanders.

The Chargers also resigned key players, including Safety Eric Weddle, Defensive Tackle Jacques Cesaire, and Wide Receiver Vincent Jackson. The Chargers will have to say goodbye to Lightning Bug Darren Sproles, who will join New Orleans, and Linebacker Kevin Burnett, who will take his talents to South Beach.

Wide Receiver Malcom Floyd, who stepped up in Jackson's absence in 2010, could also be on the move.

The Chargers strengthened their defense, and their offense isn't too shabby either. The real focus should be on special teams, which was the worst in NFL history due to bad punt blocking and coverage.

San Diego will host Quarter Back Donovan McNabb and the Minnesota Vikings on September 11 at the Q. Other notable games will be at New England a week later, at the Jets of New York on October the 23, and against Green Bay two weeks later.

NFL scheduling didn't make it easy against the Chargers early on in the season. The Bolts are notorious for starting the season off slow under Head Coach Norv Turner.

This is definitely a make or break year for Norv, who has not proven himself to be as good as his predecessor. Still, San Diego has played their cards right this offseason, and should not have an issue making the Playoffs. The real task is taking down the competition in January and February.
