Josephine Bloom Dies at 97; Longtime Carlsbad Resident Was Accountant

Camp Pendleton staffer had followed husband to Carlsbad, moved to South Dakota in 2004.

Josephine Bloom, a former Camp Pendleton accountant and longtime resident of Carlsbad, died Jan. 21, according to an obituary in the North County Times. A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, Oceanside.

She was 97.

Bloom moved with her husband, John, to California in 1955 and settled in Carlsbad in 1957, said the obituary.

“Josephine worked as a clerk at Camp Pendleton Exchange and later as an accountant at the [Electronic Data Processing] center at Camp Pendleton.”

In 2004, she moved closer to her granddaughter, Jennifer Nelson in Custer, SD, according to the obituary.
