He was 70.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and later worked for the County of San Diego, according to the newspaper.

A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Holy Cross Episcopal Church, according to the newspaper.
