The youngest brother of the late San Diego Chargers star linebacker Junior Seau died at a San Diego hospital of what friends of 36-year-old Antonio "Tony" Seau said was a heart attack, according to published reports.
Tony Seau, who died Thursday, played football at El Camino High School in Oceanside, Palomar College, Eastern Washington University and with the Oceanside-based semipro team, the North County Cobras, U-T San Diego reported.
In 1993, Tony Seau pleaded guilty to attempted murder for his role in a gang-related shooting in Oceanside and served time at the California Youth Authority.
While playing at Eastern Washington in 2002, Tony Seau survived being shot in the head during a gang-fueled argument at a college party, according to the paper.
Tony Seau is survived by his 11-year-old son, Shilo, parents, Tiana and Luisa Seau, brothers David and Savaii, and sisters, Mary Seau and Annette Seau-So'oto.
Junior Seau died at 43 in May 2012 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Oceanside home.
