In 1993, Tony Seau pleaded guilty to attempted murder for his role in a gang-related shooting in Oceanside and served time at the California Youth Authority.

While playing at Eastern Washington in 2002, Tony Seau survived being shot in the head during a gang-fueled argument at a college party, according to the paper.
