The Flying Elephant Pub & Grill in Carlsbad has a killer Bacon Bloody Mary. Served in a pint glass, this $6 spicy drink is a meal in itself. It's one of the better Bloody Mary's I've ever had.
I also tried the Elephant Burger which is topped with bacon, cheese, an onion ring, tomato, lettuce, a pickle spear and mayo on a homemade demi loaf. The $10 burger comes with fries and was easily big enough for two people to share. It's very tasty too.
Other interesting items on the menu (which I didn't try) are the $4 Elephant Bites which are cajun, garlic or parmesan-style pieces of pizza dough served with marinara sauce or ranch and the $6 Loaded Tator Tots which come smothered in melted cheese and bacon.
The Flying Elephant Pub and Grill is located right off the Tamarack exit on the 5 freeway near the . The bar also promotes local musicians with a packed calendar of live shows and has a good selection of beers on tap.
