OCEANSIDE SOLAR LUNCHEON HELD TO INFORM RESIDENTS OF COUNTY SOLAR FINANCING PROGRAM

Sullivan Solar Power Hosts Seminar for San Diego Property Owners to Learn More

SAN DIEGO  (March 12, 2014) - Today’s eco-conscious property owner has several options to make their home or business more energy-efficient, but the large upfront costs associated with home energy upgrades have caused many property owners to shy away from pursuing their dreams to be green. Recognizing the need to expand the affordability and adoption of renewable energy and sustainable retrofits, Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) offers a program called the Home Energy Renovation Opportunity (HERO) for property owners to finance clean energy upgrades through their property taxes. A solar lunch and learn is being held for local residents on March 22, 2014 at 11a.m. at the Oceanside Public Library in San Diego to inform property owners about the details of solar technology, rebates and incentives, and the government financing program.

HERO financing is now available to residents of Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Lemon Grove. Carlsbad will be signed on in May of this year.

“The ability for homeowners in these San Diego cities to finance sustainable upgrades through their property taxes is a game-changer,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of locally owned and operated Sullivan Solar Power, “San Diego has been a leader in the widespread adoption of solar energy, and opting-in to this program will ensure that the county continues to lead the rest of the nation as a solar capitol.”

HERO is an innovative government financing initiative that offers property owners low-cost and low-interest financing options for energy and water efficiency upgrades. HERO financing is repaid through an assessment on a home or business owner’s property taxes over five to 20 year terms. Other financial perks of the HERO program include no credit score requirement, fixed interest rates, tax write-offs, and increased property value.

“San Diego county is in a privileged opportunity to transition itself from dependency on dirty foreign fossil fuels to clean, affordable renewable energy through the utilization of this innovative solar financing program,” said Sullivan.

Sullivan Solar Power is working in partnership with the HERO program to educate the local community on going solar through this unique program. Property owners interested in learning more are encouraged to attend the free solar luncheon on Saturday, March 22nd at the Oceanside Library (330 N Coast Hwy, Oceanside 92054)  from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m..
