Poll: Should America Change How It Decides on Going to War?

Memorial Day recalls sacrifices of service members, but also stirs debate on war powers.

In theory, and under the Constitution, the power to declare war rests with Congress. In practice, the president can take America to war without lawmakers’ consent. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 was supposed to act as a further check on the commander in chief. It hasn’t worked out that way, with at least three presidents ignoring a rule to give Congress 48 hours’ notice before committing troops.  With Memorial Day a reminder of how such decisions can lead to the ultimate sacrifice, should the United States change the way it decides on going to war?

You guys don't need me here. You are busy enough kissing each others asses. I'll let you get back to your mutual birtherism. Let me know when you get a life beyond this blog and I'll welcome you to the real world.

Make sure you keep checking back in on our lives, Jerry. Larry, were you bothered that Jerry is a virtual Speak and Spell for smokestack? That would be consistent. Thing's comment looked more like a slap around of Jerry the moderate, anyways.
