16 Carlsbad Police and Firefighters Going Bald For Rady Children's Hospital

The Carlsbad team has raised over three times its goal and recruited nearly twice as many people as planned for Sunday's event to benefit pediatric cancer research. You can join in by sponsoring them.

More than a dozen and will give up their hair for a good cause Sunday, as they represent the community by having their heads shaved to support children's cancer research.

Team Carlsbad Leader Officer Jason Krawczyk tells Carlsbad Patch, “If you know anything about Rady Children’s Hospital, then you know what an incredible place it is.  Let’s help them make some miracles for these brave kids!”

You can help – and keep all your hair too – by going to Team Carlsbad's sponsorship page on the Be Brave and Shave event site to pledge your support.

Aside from the goal of raising thousands to support cancer research, Diane Kendrick of the Rady Children's Hospital Foundation, said the shaved heads help show  solidarity to the ailing children who are forced to lose their hair.

“It's a great statement to make in support of these kids,” she said.

The event also will include music by law enforcement band Title-18, visits by children who are ailing or in remission and drawings for prizes.

Online registration ended Thursday, but donations will continue to be accepted through next week, Kendrick said.
