Elderly Man Accused Molesting Girls, Luring Them with Dog

An elderly North County man was arrested Saturday and is accused of using two small dogs to lure children to his Tri-City area home.

A 76-year-old man was behind bars today for allegedly molesting one preschooler and attempting to do the same to another in a condominium complex near his North County home.

Tito Pimentel Callanta of Oceanside was arrested Saturday on suspicion of victimizing the two girls, ages 3 and 5, in the 4200 block of Tiberon Drive on separate occasions last month, according to police.

In both cases, Callanta allegedly used his two small dogs to lure the children behind a commercial trash bin for purposes of committing lewd acts on them, Lt. Leonard Mata said.

On Oct. 21, the suspect allegedly made a failed attempt to molest the older girl, who fled and reported what had happened to her parents. While detectives were investigating those accusations, they learned that Callanta allegedly had molested the younger child under similar circumstances earlier in the month.

He was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of child molestation charges and a kidnapping count involving the older girl. He was being held on $500,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Police believe there may be more alleged victims in the case and asked anyone with information to call Detective Joe Ingorvaia at (760) 435-4824.

Too young to be left alone.

Here is the problem with all of your posts. In this country you are Innocent until proven guilty. I know Tito, and I now that he did not touch anyone. Tito has been having an on going fight about a guest parking spot with the neighbors, and in retaliation I believe that his neighbors filed a false claim about him and he wound up in jail because of a fraudulent false accusation. There is always two sides to every story. So who is the real criminal here?

A guest parking spot?! That is his problem?!! The world has more important issues than a parking spot. Why not try to get along. Tito...get a tissue!

PART I No one knows what happened except Tito and the two girls, let's just leave it at that. Sea Breeze, you cannot say that you have been present at Tito's side 100% of the time, so you don't "know" anything. Molesters are the kind and gentle people that everyone has trusted for years. And for centuries it has been common to disbelieve victims. This is why molest and rape has continued as long as it has. Children Should be safe in groups, but only if the group is taught to look out for one another and actually KNOWS what to look for, AND has been taught to trust their gut instinct when something feels wrong AND properly reacts. Otherwise it's very easy to lure a single child away. A parent's job is to teach their child that there are many good people in the world, and some bad people, and here is what you can do when you meet a bad person . . . Then you give your child the tools to deal with any situation that they may cross in their life. It can be done without making them frightened. Make as many different situations as you possibly can and help them play act each one out. Play acting is important, it imprints better upon the brain as far as memories go. Having these tools doesn't scare children, it empowers them.

PART II I have three sons and one daughter, I began with what was given to me in the front pages of the Cub Scout handbook, a little pamphlet for parents to use with their sons. I read it and built upon it; we did it every year. What I taught saved my daughter 3 different times. Saved one of my sons once as well. P.S. Your children will probably laugh and giggle while playacting; let them. Don't admonish them with, "This is a serious subject!" They know it is, their giggling is natural. It's a nervous subject for all of you and the laughter helps dispel the fear. Plus, playacting is fun and the fact that mommy and/or daddy is playing with them is exciting. Once they see that you are ok with it, they will calm down and get on board.
