Update: Homicide Victim Identified, 2nd Fatal Stabbing in Carlsbad in One Week

Update: Michael Sahagun, 63, was stabbed to death at his home Friday around 1 a.m. on the 3500 block of Valley Street in Carlsbad. Police say his assailant remains unidentified and at large.  

Patrol officers responding to a reported disturbance around found Sahagun mortally wounded in a detached garage adjacent to the home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Around 10:30 a.m. Friday Lt. Bruce May with Carlsbad Police said they were looking for a silver pickup truck carrying palm trees in the bed.

This investigation comes less than a week after the stabbing death of 27-year-old in Carlsbad. May said, “We generally don't have a lot of homicides in Carlsbad. The fact that this came a week after is a mere coincidence in my opinion.”
