Authories Still Need Your Help Finding Wanted Thief

The Sheriff's Department says she has struck in Carlsbad and all over the county.

The Sheriff's Department still needs the public's help in identifying a woman who on at least three occasions stole a shopper's
wallet and immediately went on a spending spree with the victim's credit cards.

The first theft occurred at the CVS Pharmacy at 734 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos about 2:30 p.m. June 2, according to the Department.

The suspect distracted an 81-year-old shopper by asking her questions
about a product, then stole her wallet out of her purse, authorities said. The shopper discovered the theft when she went to pay for her purchase. A short time later, $2,400 worth of purchases were made on the victim's credit cards at stores from Carlsbad to San Clemente, and a $1,000 cash advance was obtained at a Carlsbad bank using one of the stolen credit cards.

The next day, about 10 a.m., the suspect allegedly stole a 65-year-old
woman's wallet in similar fashion at Windmill Farms at 6386 Del Cerro Blvd. in San Diego. Authorities said that within two hours of the theft, the suspect made $500 worth of purchases on stolen credit cards and withdrew a $2,000 cash advance.

The third theft occurred about 11 a.m. July 6 at the Ralph's grocery
store at 8800 Grossmont Blvd. in La Mesa, authorities said. The suspect and an accomplice, also a woman, allegedly distracted an 85-year-old woman and stole her wallet from her purse, then went on to make $500 worth of purchases on stolen credit cards. She also obtained $3,000 in cash advances, according to authorities.

Authorities describe the suspect as black, 50 to 55 years old, 5 feet 3
to 5 feet 6 and heavy set, about 180-220 pounds. Her hair is shoulder-length and graying, authorities said. She has also been described as having four large front teeth with gaps between each tooth.

The accomplice in the July 6 theft is black, 45 to 55 years old and also
heavy set, authorities said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
