Authorities Ask For Help In Identifying 'Chubby' Bank Robber

They believe the suspect robbed banks in Poway, Carlsbad and Encinitas.

Authorities are asking the public for help in identifying a man who they believed robbed four North San Diego County banks.

The robber, dubbed the "Chubby Bandit," is believed to be responsible for four bank robberies and one attempted robbery in Solana Beach on Oct. 13.

The suspect is described to be a white male between the age of 25 to 35, approximately 5’6” to 5’9” tall and approximately 180 to 200 pounds.

They believed he robbed the following banks:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 5:32 pm, US Bank, 12655 Scripps Poway Parkway in Poway.
  • Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at 1:03 pm, Chase Bank, 7176 Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad.
  • Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at 2:47pm, Wells Fargo Bank, 276 North El Camino Real in Encinitas.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at 2:23 pm, US Bank, 770 Village Drive in Carlsbad.
