Authorities Looking for Escaped Encinitas Prisoner

Isaac Nachbar ran away from officers Wednesday at Scripps Encinitas Hospital and could be hiding out in the North County area.

Escaped Prisoner Sought

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th, an Encinitas-based Deputy Sheriff observed a man pushing a motorcycle in the area of South Vulcan and Encinitas Boulevard, in Encinitas. A report had been issued earlier with regard to a stolen motorcycle and after further investigation, Isaac Nachbar (date of birth 5/9/94) was taken into custody.

Nachbar was transported to the Encinitas Sheriff's Station for processing. After arrival, he complained of feeling ill and the Encinitas Fire Department responded. Nachbar was subsequently transported to Scripps Encinitas Hospital for a non-life-threatening illness.

At the hospital, Nachbar requested to use the restroom. He was accompanied by a deputy and allowed to do so. As the deputy was replacing handcuffs back onto Nachbar, he pulled away from the deputy's grip and ran out of the hospital's emergency department.

A search immediately ensued, which involved additional deputies, K-9 units, and ASTREA, as well as ABLE assistance. Nachbar is still being sought and anyone with information is requested to contact the San Diego Sheriff's Department at 858-565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
