Authorities Say Armed and Dangerous Child Molester Is on the Run

Authorities asked the public today to be on the lookout for a Fallbrook man who went on the lam last week while being tried on child molestation charges.

Joseph Vincent McCarron, 58, failed to appear in Vista Superior Court on Nov. 13, the same day he was found guilty of 11 counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child under age 14, sheriff's Lt. Jim Bolwerk said.

McCarron is a 5-foot-7-inch, roughly 160-pound white man with thinning reddish-brown hair and hazel-brown eyes. He may be driving a green 1993 Honda Accord, California license plate 3ELK383.

The fugitive should be considered armed and dangerous, Bolwerk said. Anyone spotting McCarron was asked to avoid approaching him and call 911 immediately.
