Bomb Squad Called After Suspicious Object Left on Jefferson Overpass
Around 4:15 Wednesday, City of Carlsbad's Police Department received a report of a suspicious female leaving a package on the Jefferson St. freeway overpass.
Police shut down the Jefferson Street bridge over Interstate 5 Wednesday afternoon after a passer-by noticed a possibly suspicious
object next to one of the traffic lanes on the span.

Sheriff's bomb squad members were dispatched to investigate and dispose of the object. At 5:25 p.m. they arrived on scene and secured the device. A description of it was not immediately available.
