Carlsbad Police and FBI Search for Bank Robber

The City of Carlsbad Police Department received a 911 call from a U.S. Bank on El Camino Real just after 11 a.m. Monday.

A long-haired, heavyset man wearing sunglasses robbed a North County bank Monday.

The thief, who appeared to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, handed a demand note to a teller at the US Bank branch office in the 7700 block of El Camino Real in Carlsbad shortly after 11 a.m., according to the FBI. He repeated the demand verbally before being handed an undetermined amount of money and fleeing.

Witnesses described the robber as a roughly 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pound white man with dark shoulder-length hair. He was clad in jeans, an orange shirt, white undershirt, black hooded sweat shirt, black-and-white tennis shoes and black knit cap.
