Carlsbad Police Looking for School Zone Speeders

With the new school year in full swing, the police department's traffic division is increasing enforcement around Carlsbad schools to ensure safety

Child safety is a high priority in the City of Carlsbad, and the police department is reminding community members to drive safely in school zones or they will be cited. 

Remember these tips when travelling through a school zone:

•    Maximum speed limit is 25 MPH in all school zones while children are present

•    Park legally and do not bock roadways, intersections or handicapped access

•    Decreased speeds allow for a greater reaction time

•    Watch out for pedestrians and bicyclists, especially children

•    Pay attention to the crossing guard(s) directions

•    Always cross at an intersection or crosswalk, if available

•    Look both ways before crossing

•    Don’t call your child across a street, go and greet them

•    Drop your child at the curb, not from the lane of travel

•    Don't run between parked cars and buses.

•    Don't run across the street or through a parking lot.
