Carlsbad Police Respond to Possible Destructive Device

A plastic bottle with tin foil, containing a dark liquid was found on a lawn in the 1200 block of Abelia Ave around 6 p.m. Sunday. A bomb unit determined it was not an explosive device.

On December 8, at 5:54 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a call of a plastic bottle with tin foil, containing a dark liquid on a lawn in the 1200 block of Abelia Ave.  It was later determined that the plastic bottle may be a destructive device.  The San Diego Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit and the Carlsbad Fire Department responded and rendered the device safe.  No one was injured as a result of the incident and no property was damaged.

No suspects have been identified at this time and this investigation is pending.
