Carlsbad Police Volunteers Deliver Holiday Cheer

The City of Carlsbad Police Department's Senior Volunteer Patrol delivered holiday gift baskets to the "You are Not Alone" (YANA) participants earlier this week.

To deliver holiday cheer, the self-proclaimed “senior patrol elves” collect new and homemade items for the gift baskets, package the baskets and personally delivered them on December 17.

"The seniors in the YANA Program are special to us.” said senior volunteer patrol member Glenn Peterson who is responsible for the project.  “We look forward to both preparing the holiday gift baskets and seeing the smiling faces as we deliver them."

The “You are Not Alone” (YANA) program is a free service for City of Carlsbad seniors who live alone and who would benefit from having someone check on their welfare.  The goal of the YANA program is to help participants feel confident while continuing to live independently.  Members of the police department’s senior volunteer patrol make daily phone calls and weekly visits to each YANA program participant.
