Carlsbad Weekend Crime Report

Carlsbad police are searching for suspects in two assault cases over the weekend.

Two armed suspects attempting to rob a man in Stagecoach Park Friday night fought with their intended victim after he refused to give up his cell phone and money, according to Carlsbad police. The suspects struck the man in the face with a handgun, but he declined medical assistance. No arrests have been made.

Police responded to a call reporting a fight in the park at 10:45 p.m. The reporting party heard one of the subjects say, “I don’t want to shoot you,” but no weapon was seen.

When officers arrived, they found a man with lacerations to his face who said he was walking on the east side of Stagecoach Park when he was approached and threatened by two males, one armed with a knife, the other with a handgun. Police said the suspects demanded the man’s cell phone and money, and when he refused he was struck in the face with the gun and a fight broke out.
