'Chubby' Man Robs Carlsbad Bank

Witnesses described a man—who robbed a Chase bank—as "chubby."

A pudgy thief who claimed to have a concealed pistol robbed a North County bank Thursday.

The man, who appeared to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, approached a teller at the Chase Bank branch on Avenida Encinas in Carlsbad and demanded cash about 1 p.m., according to the FBI.

The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money, and the bandit walked out of the bank and fled the area in an unknown direction.
