Deputies Make Nine Arrests in Downtown Vista

Sheriff's deputies made nine arrests and issued 35 citations in a crime crackdown in downtown Vista, a sheriff's sergeant said Saturday Dec. 21.

The deputies, which included bike teams and motor units, conducted the patrol between noon and 10 p.m. Friday in an effort to reduce crime on Main Street, according to sheriff's Sgt. G. Twyman. Several reaturants, a bar and a movie theater are in that area.

Three people were arrested in connection with misdemeanor warrants, and six were arrested for suspicion of public intoxication, Twyman said.

In addition to the 35 citations issued, deputies conducted 18 field interviews and impounded three vehicles, Twyman said.

The sheriff's department's Crime Prevention Unit was also on hand to give holiday shopping safety tips, and senior volunteers patrolled area parking lots and reminded motorists to secure their vehicles and keep valuables out of view, Twyman said.
