Downtown Carlsbad Train Death Under Investigation
The Sheriff's Department responded Sunday night after a man was struck and killed by a train on a main road in Carlsbad.
An investigation is under way today into an apparent accident in Carlsbad in which a man was struck and killed by a train.
"The assumption at this point is he was trying to get across the other
side and misjudged the distance of the train,'' said San Diego County sheriff's
Lt. Marco Garmo.
Deputies were called at 7:23 p.m. Sunday to investigate the fatality at
Carlsbad Village Drive between Washington and State Street.
