Ex Army and Navy Academy Admin Arrested on Molestation Allegations

The former boarding school administrator was accused of sexually assaulting at least six of his one-time students.

An ex-administrator for a North County military boarding school was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting at least six of his one-time students.

Jeffery S. Barton, 56, who was employed at Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad from 1995 until earlier this year, was taken into custody early Thursday evening, authorities said.

The investigation began in June, when a former student of the college-preparatory school, now an adult, reported allegations of past sexual conduct on the part of Barton, police Lt. Marc Reno said. Detectives subsequently developed leads and identified the additional purported victims.
