Fatal Car Crash in Vista

The following is a Sheriff's Dept. press release

At about 5:50 AM, Vista Sheriff's Station Traffic Accident Investigators responded to a solo vehicle traffic collision in the 1200 block of Park Center Drive in Vista. A witness at the scene told deputies she was parked on the north side of Park Center Drive when she heard a collision on the other side of the street. The witness went toward the sound of the collision and discovered a vehicle had crashed into the rear of a parked semi-tractor box trailer. Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and extracted the driver from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was driving a 1997 Ford Escort eastbound on Park Center Drive. It is not known at this time why the drive ran into the back of the semi-tractor box trailer. The trailer was parked along the south curb of Park Center Drive in front of 1211 Park Center Drive. The trailer was not connected to a vehicle. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the collision and no other vehicles appear to have been involved. The driver did not have any identification on his person at the time of the collision. The driver appears to be a Samoan male approximately 25 to 30 years of age. The vehicle is registered to an address in Oceanside. Positive identification of the driver will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. Investigation of the collision will be ongoing by the Vista Sheriff's Traffic Accident Investigators.
