A two-alarm fire destroyed a single-family home in the 3800 block of Margaret Way Sunday, displacing seven people, a fire official said.
Firefighters were called in at 11:37 a.m. to find the home engulfed in flames, prompting Carlsbad Battalion Chief Luis Suna to call in backup from Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista fire departments.
Fire officials said the blaze was under control at 12:05 p.m.
The home's residents got out safely before firefighters arrived and no one was injured.
Four cats in the house were missing, but firefighters didn't find their remains and suspect they escaped through a cat door.
