A readiness conference is scheduled Wednesday for James Comstock, a former Carlsbad city treasurer charged with misappropriating funds involving unrelated work he did as a volunteer for a nonprofit organization.

Comstock was the former volunteer treasurer for the non-profit organization ArtSplash. He'd been with ArtSplash since 2003. He'd also served as the City of Carlsbad Treasurer, but resigned in January 2013.

According to the city, an ArtSplash board member had identified a potential problem with the financial records of ArtSplash and brought the concern to the attention of City of Carlsbad Mayor Matthew Hall. "The records indicated potential accounting discrepancies."

Okay, so Art Splash is a non-profit. Better reporting would make it clear if Art Splash has received City Tax Dollars to stay in operation; and if so, how much money have they received during their entire existence? We know that City officials read Carlsbad Patch, so could one of you please answer this question? How 'bout you, Mayor Hall?
