Investigation Finds Michael Sahagun Died from Gunshot, not Stab Wounds
Police originally reported the 63-year-old Carlsbad resident was stabbed to death. Officials now say he died from being shot in the chest.
Carlsbad police originally were conflicted as to whether Michael Michel Sahagun, 63, who was found lying in his detached garage Friday in the 3500 block of Valley Street, died from being stabbed or shot. On Friday Lt. Bruce May said, "witness phone calls came in both ways, either a stabbing or shooting we don't know yet...We're waiting for the medical examiner to assist us with that determination."
Later that day police reported Sahagun .
Tuesday, the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office said he died of a shotgun wound to the chest. City News Service reports that "police and county medical examiner's officials could not immediately explain the discrepancy."

Police say the motive for the attack is unclear. On : Grant Hunter, 23, Mercedes Yorba, 19, and Gary Gomez, 27. An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday.
