Motorcyclist Taken to Hospital after Carlsbad Boulevard Crash

Police say the motorcyclist was taken to Scripps La Jolla with minor injuries.

Carlsbad Police say this latest car vs. motorcycle crash on Carlsbad Boulevard near Cerezo around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday was a "best case scenario" in that the injured motorcyclist suffered only minor injuries.

According to witness Chris Walker of Carlsbad, "The car moved right and the motorcyclist tried to go around but was hit when the car made a U-turn."

U-turns are not legal on that section of the road. Both drivers were adult males and heading north at the time of the crash, said Carlsbad Police.

The driver of the car, a Honda Accord, was not taken to the hospital. The driver of the 1979 Yamaha was taken by ambulance to Scripps La Jolla. Walker said the motorcyclist had a facial injury in addition to a bad road rash.

"It was scary," said Walker, "I didn't know how hard the guy was going to go down. Luckily there wasn't traffic going in the other direction when he hit the ground."
