Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Train in Carlsbad

Sheriff's Lt. J.T. Faulkner said the apparent suicide was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

A train struck and killed a pedestrian on a stretch of tracks near Batiquitos Lagoon Thursday.

The rail fatality off the 7200 block of Ponto Drive in Carlsbad was reported just after 1:30 p.m., sheriff's Lt. J.T. Faulkner said.

The pedestrian struck was a white male adult. He succombed to his injuries at the scene. A cause and manner of death, as well as a positive identification of the decedent will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
