Police Detain Cocos Fire Arson Suspect

A possible suspect in one of the large wildfires burning in the San Diego area was detained for questioning today in Escondido, a police official said.

The man—whose name was not immediately available— was taken into custody in the mid-afternoon, Lt. Mike Kearney said.

The suspect was believed to possibly have been involved in the Cocos Fire, which has burned more than 1,000 acres in San Marcos and surrounding areas since erupting Wednesday afternoon, Kearney said.
