Police Investigating Possible Hit-and-Run on Carlsbad Village Drive

George W. Brown was found unconscious in the street early Sunday morning.

A 62-year-old man was found unconscious on Carlsbad Village Drive early Sunday morning, and he may have been struck by a vehicle, according to Carlsbad police.

Police and paramedics reporting to a call of a person down in the street at 3:12 a.m. found George W. Brown lying on his side in the 300 block of Carlsbad Village Drive in the eastbound lanes. It appeared that Brown had fallen and sustained a head injury, according to Officer Josh Bubnis.

Brown was taken to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, and his condition has not been released. Around 8:30 a.m., a hospital representative contacted the Carlsbad Police Department, advising them that Brown’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Traffic officers are investigating the case as a serious injury hit-and-run, and anyone who witnessed Brown being injured or has any information is asked to contact Bubnis at 760-931-2106.
