Update: Police Arrest Burglary Suspect in Las Playas Community off Batiquitos

Police and a Sheriff's helicopter spent about an hour Monday evening around the 6800 block of Briarwood looking for a suspect possibly armed with a large knife.

Updated: 6:11 a.m. Tuesday

Monday at 4:48 p.m. the Carlsbad Police Department was dispatched to the 800 block of Ginger Ave to investigate an unknown male subject forcing entry into a residence. 

The suspect, later identified as Joshua Bishop, 24, was observed by witnesses exiting the back of the residence and leaving the area on foot.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department helicopter was also called in to help find the suspect.

The Carlsbad Police Department conducted a comprehensive search of the area and with information provided by citizens in the neighborhood, took Bishop into custody in 6800 block of Briarwood Dr at 6:08 p.m. Monday.

Bishop will be booked into the Vista Detention Facility for residential burglary.  This case has been forwarded to the General Investigations Division of the Carlsbad Police Department pending investigative follow up.
