The county coroner's office is working to identify a woman fatally struck by a southbound Amtrak train in Carlsbad.
The woman was struck on the tracks near the 300 block of Carlsbad Village Drive about 9:40 p.m. Monday , according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Ed Macken.
She died at the scene, the deputy said in a statement.
