Video: Cutest Carlsbad Senior Reacts to Surprise Holiday Basket

The Carlsbad Police Department's Senior Patrol handed out 27 holiday baskets to members of their YANA (You Are Not Alone) program.

Editor note- I apologize for the audio on the video clip being low at times.

When was the last time you were this thankful for a holiday gift basket? Each year, members of the  surprise the elderly community members they check up on daily with a holiday gift. These elderly gift recipients live alone and are part of the program.

Volunteer Senior Patrol members say they get just as much out of delivery and making the gifts as the gift recipients do.

awww, She is so sweet. I would love to go over and spend some time with her. I miss my Mom who passed away 19 years ago. I hope she has a wonderful Christmas.

Deanne, you captured a great moment! Thanks. Do you see why we love the YANA program?

I definitely see it! You guys do such a great job bringing cheer into their lives. I love her reaction, she's a role model for me in how to really accept a gift, I wish I was always that gracious.

California seriously needs Republicans to return and reclaim the 55 Electoral votes this stateRead More represents to the presidential elections. Three Democratic cities are bankrupt and more are threatened.

I'd say the recent events against which they were protesting are far more consequential than aRead More freeway traffic back-up. Just a guess.
Sage Naumann June 8, 2013 at 04:49 pm
How did they cause a backup, exactly? I'm asking because I saw them, and am wondering how theyRead More backed it up. If it's because people were slowing to read the signs, you can't really get mad at them for that.

I stopped using Internet Explorer years ago. Firefox is safer and the possibility of getting aRead More virus is much less. I have no issues with Firefox.
Bobbie Henry June 8, 2013 at 08:04 am
And if you use an IPAD early in the day as I do, the problem is that there is so much on each pageRead More that it is hard to scroll with your finger(s) because there is just so much clutter that you keep losing your story to an annoying ad.
