The death of a woman found bleeding in a parked car in a Carlsbad commercial district Friday was being investigated by detectives as a "suspicious death," police said.
Patrol officers responding to an emergency call found the woman bleeding from her chest in the 5800 block of Van Allen Way shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to police.
Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene a short time later.
The woman's name was withheld pending family notification.
The manner by which the woman was injured was not immediately clear.
