Women Found Dead in Area Parking Lot IDed by Family

A family member identified the woman to NBC7 as Ariflor Gonzalez, 37.

A woman was found dead in her place of employment's parking lot in Carlsbad and her 49-year-old estranged husband was jailed today in connection with her death, it was reported.

Someone called police shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday to check on a woman who had been working at a business in the 5700 block of Van Allen Way near Faraday Avenue, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.

Arriving officers found the woman's body in the parking lot and determined she had been the victim of a homicide, police officials said.

A family member identified the woman to NBC7 as Ariflor Gonzalez, 37.

Pedro Rosalino Zurita was arrested after authorities followed investigative leads and was later booked into the Vista Detention Facility for suspicion of first degree murder, according to police and jail records.

The victim's brother, Ismael Gonzalez, told the television station Gonzalez and Zurita had been married for more than two decades, but had separated about three months ago.
