Camp Pendleton to Become Noisy Due to Bomb Drops

Marine Corps aircraft units will drop 500 pounds of high explosive bombs as part of training, officials said.

Marine Corps aircraft units will drop 500 pounds of high explosive bombs as part of training aboard Camp Pendleton Thursday, base officials announced today.

The training will take place in the Zulu impact area, near the center of North County base, from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.

During the training, loud booms may be heard up to 50 miles away.
