Carlsbad Barrio Getting Traffic Circles

A total of nine traffic circles will be put in.

June 11, Carlsbad City Council approved $1.4 million in new capital projects over the next year for both the Village and the neighboring Barrio area. 

One of the big chances will be the addition of nine traffic circles in the Barrio. "We will have three traffic circles on each of the north-south through presidential streets (Roosevelt, Harding, and Madison) for a total of nine to help calm motorists speeds within the Barrio," said Deputy Transportation Director Bryan Jones.

Barrio Bike and Pedestrian Wayfinding - A directional sign system that points pedestrians and bicyclists to designated landmarks, with time measured in minutes or distance measured in blocks shown on the signs (i.e., Train Station --> 2 blocks, 3 minutes)

Barrio Safety Lighting - An analysis of current conditions and needs for safety lighting in the Barrio.
