EGGstravganza Spring Festival a Huge Success

Saturday was the perfect day for a spring celebration in Carlsbad, and the annual EGGstravaganza Spring Festival—put on in Poinsettia Park by the City of Carlsbad Parks and Recreation Department—was a hit with everyone in attendance. While there were loads of things to do, including bounce houses and a great sampling of summer camp activities, the highlight of the day was definitely the Egg Scramble.

Tricia, a mother of three attending the EGGstravaganza said, “The kids had a great time and they got some candy as a reward. Of course they always love the running and that chase while they’re out there looking to get their little prizes.”

Another participant in the egg scramble said, “This is the best ‘egg thing’ in San Diego!” 

The Egg Scramble was set up a bit differently from other egg hunts. Kids were separated into two groups by age and then brought out onto the field in groups of 10 to 15 in order to give everyone a chance to collect eggs safely.

Rachael Shay, special events supervisor, said, “The Egg Scramble keeps the fun going by allowing kids to hunt for eggs as many times as they want, as opposed to a traditional egg hunt where there is only one chance for kids to collect eggs. This activity ensures that everyone has a chance to participate in a safe, fair manner.”

Carlsbad teen royalty led the Easter egg hunt and it was a great opportunity for them to serve as role models for younger Carlsbad residents. Zoe White said, “It was so much fun seeing all the kids that were so excited to get the candy and to see their love of the holiday.”

It wouldn’t be an Easter celebration without the bunny himself. The Easter Bunny enjoyed the festivities and made a splash of his own in a variation on the dunk tank with the Bunny Balloon Soak.
