Incumbent Bill Horn maintained his lead today over Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood in the close San Diego County supervisor's race, according to election results released Friday.

Horn, who was leading by about 2,500 votes as of this evening, continued to gain momentum toward securing his sixth term representing the coastline from Camp Pendleton to Carlsbad, along with Oceanside, Vista and San Marcos and several unincorporated communities.

However, about 42,000 absentee and provisional ballots were uncounted, according to the county Registrar of Voters.

The two Republicans in the nonpartisan race both listed economic development, public safety and fiscal responsibility among their top issues.

Combined, the supervisors represent about 3 million residents and oversee an almost $5 billion budget.

Today's update ballot counting did not significantly alter the margins in any other local races.
