Issa Traveling to Libya for House Benghazi Investigation

The national website POLITICO said Issa's trip will begin on Sunday and includes stops in Italy and Egypt.

Rep. Darrell Issa is traveling to Libya next week as part of his Congressional investigation into the attack last year on the U.S. consulate Benghazi, the national website POLITICO reported Friday.

The Republican from Vista, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, did not invite Democratic counterparts on the trip, POLITICO said.

The site said the trip begins on Sunday and includes stops in Italy and Egypt.

Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, the ranking Democrat on the committee, called on Issa to postpone the trip to allow a Democrat to take part, POLITICO reported

Issa's 44th Congressional District includes Carlsbad, Encinitas, Vista, Oceanside, Del Mar, Camp Pendleton, Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego County, and San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch in Orange County.
