Local Bike Riders Pedal 65 Miles to Pay Respect to Fallen Heroes

On Memorial Day, 34 members of Team Shoebacca rode from Encinitas to Fort Rosecrans in Point Loma to lay flags on graves and pay respect at the cemetery.

"On Memorial Day, cars are not allowed on the cemetery grounds, but bikes are," with said.

Folse said the experience of being in the national cemetery on Monday to pay respect to all who lost their lives was very moving.

"We had three riders with parents resting at Fort Rosecrans in Point Loma." she said. "We stopped and they placed flags. This is a very special day and on bicycles you can really experience the magnitude and emotion of the place. Rolling slow, respectfully through the cemetery is a feeling I can't describe but would highly recommend."
