Chávez was elected as assemblymember in 2012 to represent the 76th Assembly District which includes Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside and Vista. He has impressive experience in education having founded and been the Director of the School of Business and Technology, a charter high school in the Oceanside Unified School District.

Ryon continues to say, “today, as our elected Assemblymember, Rocky is very involved serving as vice chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee and Higher Education Committee as well as other important committees. He is a great speaker. We are grateful to have him come to Happy Hour Politics.”

Melanie Burkholder, another principal organizer of Happy Hour Politics, says: “Rocky is really looking forward to giving us an inside view of what’s going on in local government. He has a particular focus on education that will be of interest to many of us. He loves the opportunity to talk with his constituents and to answer any questions or hear our concerns. This is a perfect forum to get updated and have fun!”

The Happy Hour Politics event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m on Thursday, Feb. 20, at The Crossings, 5800 The Crossings Dr., Carlsbad.

There is a $15 cash cover charge (includes appetizers). Drinks are available for purchase.
