Possible Set Back for Carlsbad's Desalination Plant
The Metropolitan Water District has decided to deny millions of dollars to water conservation projects.
A dispute over distribution of water conservation funds between the San Diego County Water Authority and Southern California's main water wholesaler boiled over Tuesday after $1.3 million was denied for a project in Ramona and about $2 million was cut for conservation projects in other areas of San Diego County.
The action could affect the , which would recycle water taken from the Pacific Ocean. The plant is under construction.
MWD board Chairman John Foley said the board will continue paying direct rebates to residential and business customers to provide incentive for conservation efforts.
